On November 22, 2019, the completion and production ceremony of the large silicon wafer project of Hangzhou Zhongxin Wafer Semiconductor Co., Ltd. was held at Zhongxin Wafer Semiconductor Co., Ltd. in Qiantang New District, Hangzhou. This move marks the official completion of the construction of Hangzhou Zhongxin Wafer Semiconductor Co., Ltd., which took one year and eight months, and the formal mass production of 8-inch large silicon wafers. The 12 inch large silicon wafer production line has entered the debugging and trial production stage.
The completion ceremony marks the successful opening of China's first truly mass-produced semiconductor silicon wafer production factory with the largest scale, most mature technology, and independent core technology. It also lays the foundation for the mass production of 8-inch and 12 inch semiconductor silicon wafers with a monthly output of 350000 wafers next year. As is well known, the supply of large-sized silicon wafers, especially 12 inch semiconductor wafers, in China is controlled by foreign companies and the market is highly monopolized. The completion and operation of the large silicon wafer project by Hangzhou Zhongxin Wafer Semiconductor Co., Ltd. will change the current situation where domestic semiconductor large silicon wafers are completely dependent on foreign countries, effectively filling the industry gap in domestic semiconductor large silicon wafer supply.
Hangzhou Zhongxin Wafer Semiconductor Co., Ltd. will complete the equipment installation and debugging, process debugging, quality certification and other processes of the 12 inch production line in the coming months. By the end of this year, it will produce high-quality 12 inch semiconductor large silicon wafers and enter mass production at the beginning of next year. After the 12 inch semiconductor silicon wafer production line is put into operation, the monthly production capacity can reach 30000 pieces, and the expansion of the 200000 piece production line will be launched in a timely manner, which will greatly alleviate the shortage of semiconductor large silicon wafer supply in China.
